Wolters Kluwer’s inaugural Kluwer Arbitration User Forum was appropriately held in the heart of legal London at the International Dispute Resolution Centre (IDRC), 70 Fleet Street on Tuesday. Attended by librarians, knowledge managers, PSLs, associates, partners and academics alike, the three-hour session proved to be a hit.

“Very informative and thought-provoking”, said Nicholas Fletcher, Head of International Arbitration, Berwin Leighton Paisner LLP and sharing his views on the morning, Edward Shaw, Legal Director, DLA Piper UK Ltd, remarked “a healthy interactive debate of trends and issues relevant to the arbitration industry”.

The forum interspersed arbitration content – Georgios Petrochilos, Freshfields, kickstarted proceedings with a fascinating review of recent developments in international arbitration – with product updates (including a ‘one-off’ sneak preview of forthcoming content) from Wolters Kluwer. The interactive and lively nature of the morning culminated in an hour-long Kluwer Arbitration author panel. The panel, chaired by Christian Leathley, Herbert Smith Freehills, saw Georgios Petrochilos return to the floor alongside Karel Daele, Mishcon de Reya; Jacob Grierson, McDermott Will & Emery and Greg Fullelove, Osborne Clarke. All recent or forthcoming Kluwer authors, the panelists discussed questions (submitted in advance by registered participants) such as the rise of mediation, the growth of arbitration in Asia and thoughts for future growth areas.

“I was impressed by the star-studded panel you had. It is not easy to collect all of them under one roof, let alone hear them talk. As such from a peer practitioner point of view as well as my academic pursuits, it was brilliant”, commented Katherine (Katia) Ramo, PhD candidate, CEPMLP University of Dundee.

The Forum provided us with a fantastic opportunity to hear comments and feedback from regular users. We welcome any further insight you may want to share as this helps us to improve and enhance our products and services to ensure we meet our customer’s needs.

Many thanks to all who gave up there time to come along and participate in the session. And for those who were perhaps unable to attend, don’t worry, we plan to run the forum again next year.
